- Nairobi county Police Boss bans undercover patrols, unofficial vehicles and improper attire during operations
- Augustine Nthumbi has issued a regulation stating that all cops must wear attire during missions, drive and use official cars for patrol and wear their uniform
- Police head of Nairobi issues order to sweep and hunt down crooked Policeman
The head of department Nairobi Police has issued new orders and commanded cops to begin the sweep for crooked policemen. There has been a steady rise in police crime whereby cops tend to engage in illegal operations in other jurisdictions undercover. Therefore, Nthumbi has declared a sweep for legitimacy whereby every cop in his jurisdiction is expected to be dressed in full and proper attire during operations. Moreover, every policeman is expected to use authorized operational vehicles. Engaging in any illegal operation and undercover patrols have been banned to minimize confusion as well as conflicts on the other hand. Enhancing professionalism in their day-to-day operations will help keep track and for accountability in every act.
This has been due to many crime cases concerning police utilities being used to perform illegal operations and crime without any accountability at the end of the day. Some policemen could hand out their attire, handcuffs, or even guns which end up being used for raids and harassment. A few cases have been reported whereby cops raid bars and liquor stores and carry Mwanachi’s property and assets claiming to ‘safeguard exhibit’.
Police have been involved in harassment and violations whereby they use their assets to manipulate and exhort other citizens for their high-handedness. It’s so sad that some Policemen who swore to protect the public are becoming abusive and manipulative instead. All Nairobi Police officers have been instructed in Advance thus least conflicts and confusion is expected. However, there are specifically authorized cops who have permission to use unmarked/private cars in certain operations for security purposes.
