- Tanzania’s Former President John Pombe Magufuli Has been buried today at his home in Chato-Geita.
- The president died after a long time of ailing from heart disease. He died while still in power.
- His deputy Suluhu Hassan has since then ascended to the presidential position.
The former president of Tanzania, Dr. John Pombe Magufuli was today burried in his home village in Chato-Geita. In a function that was attended by thousands of people and streamed by millions, the former president was laid to rest at last. The president died after fighting with heart disease for a long time. The former president shall be remembered for his strict pan-Africanist Ideas, his humble character and his stand against Covid-19 prevention measures in Tanzania.
His body was earlier today brought to the field of Rumbambagwe where the normal Roman Catholic Mass was done after which he was taken to his home for burial. Current Tanzania’s president Samia Hassan Suluhu and former president Jakaya Kikwete were in attendance. The former president was given a 21 gun salute send off after the national anthem and that of east African Community.
At the time of his death, Magufuli was 61 yeas and had ruled Tanzania from 2015 till 2021 when he died. He shall be remembered for his motto: “hapa kazi tu”
