She decided to lock up the house with the children inside in an attempt to force the parents to pay up rent to be able to be reunited with their loved ones.
The parents of the children had not paid rent for two months and came back in the evening only to find two padlocks on their apartment. Their children were inside with no food all day and even went to sleep hungry. The father tried to plead with the landlady but all was in vain. She claimed that she will only open up the house if the rent is paid up in full.
Neighbours come to the rescue
The devastating scenes caused a reaction from the neighbours in Kitengela, who rose up to the occasion and contacted the chief of the area. The chief came down to the apartment and solved the issue, freeing up the two children to be reunited with their parents. The landlady was apprehended and taken the to the police station. She is currently awaiting charges after her inhuman act.
