President Uhuru Imposes lockdown In This Counties

President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered lockdown of 5 counties that have had the highest cases of Covid-19 infection. The president directed that the counties of Kiambu, Nakuru, Kajiado, Machakos and Nairobi be locked down. This means that there shall be no movement in and out of the counties till further notice. However, people can move within the counties.
President Uhuru noted that the target counties have been responsible for 70% of Covid-19 infections. He further revised the curfew hours from the previous 10:00pm-10:00am to 8:00pm-4:00 am. This directives are an executive order from the president to take effect as from midnight today 26th March 2021.
This directives come when the country is experiencing the 3rd wave of Covid-19. Cases of infection and deaths have increased in the country of late, especially in the highlited counties. Earlier on KEPSA had advised the President to tighten the Covid-19 prevention rules and gave recomendations of a lockdown and banning of public gatherings. Restaurants within this counties have also been ordered to deal with take away only, other counties can continue businesses as usuall.
All gatherings including those of county assemblies have also been suspended.
