- Plans are underway to remove Deputy president william Ruto from the deputy party leader of Jubilee
- Reasons are because of his affiliation with the UDA party
- UDA is facing challenges that could weaken or even collapse it.
Deputy president William Ruto on 23rd March 2021 held a crisis meeting of the UDA part. The meeting comes at a time when he is facing a possible ouster from the Jubilee party. Members at the Jubilee party complain about his affiliation with UDA, a new party that is deemed to be Ruto’s fall-back party for 2022 general elections in case things don’t work out in Jubilee party.
The UDA headship is worried of members leaving the new party and others shifting support to Rails and Uhuru affiliated parties. Among the reasons raised were, lack of a clear plan to win the mass rather than competing Rails and Uhuru, internal wrangles between leaders and the recent by-election loses.
Dismus Barasa, Kimilili mp reportedly took a break from politics. The member of parliament who has been a supporter of team tanga tanga announced that he has taken a 4 month break from politics. Other tanga tanga members from western Kenya including Benjamin Washiali, Echesa and John waluke are reportedly weighing their options.
Oscar Sudi, the member of parliament for Kapseret also held a meeting with Barasa. It’s is said that Oscar was sent by Ruto following the latest developments on Barasa’s side. “I paid a courtesy visit to my friend Hon Didmas Barasa, Kimilili MP in his office earlier today…I, however, requested him to reduce the four months break to a lesser time. Let’s wait and see what he will decide,” Said Sudi.
Ruto’s Mount Kenya allies have been cautious of joining UDA despite their support. Uhuru, Rails, Wetangula, Charity Ngilu, Mudavadi, Kalonzo and other key leaders are reportedly planning a collective block of Ruto from ascending into presidency come 2022. The leaders are planning to capture key allies of Ruto to bar him from the presidential seat.
