Spain best Italy to cruise to the final
Italy vs Spain was a very anticipated match, which lived up to the hype. The game began in the first half with both teams threatening to score, although it was Ferran Torres that broke the deadline in the early minutes after he executed a perfect volley near post only to score after an amazing cross into the box by Mikel Oyazarbal. The score was 1-0, and the Italians started pressing and looking for more chances to draw back level. Lorenzo Insigne missed a glorious opportunity that saw his effort fly wide off the post. It all become worse for the Azurri when their captain Bonucci got a second yellow card after elbowing Sergio and had to leave the Captain’s armband to Insigne before heading off the field.
The Italians had to play with ten men in the field, although things become worse when Ferran Torres found the back of the net again from a beautifully connected header in the box, only to leave Donnarumma hopeless in between the sticks. The score was 2-0 and the Spaniards entered the halftime break with a huge lead. Ferran Torres was not able to continue the second half after picking up an injury. The second half was also interesting after Chiesa missed a glorious opportunity as his effort flew past the post. Despite the Spaniards controlling the game and possessing, the Italians were able to secure a goal scored by Pellegrini after he was perfectly teed up by his teammate Federico Chiesa. The game ended 1-2, with the Spaniards taking the victory. Spain has now reached the final where they will face either Belgium or France, in a superb match.
