This is the highest penetration for all African countries second to Morocco (58.27%), is well above the figure of 19.9% for Africa as a whole, and is comparable with the figure of 39.0% for developing countries worldwide.

With an average download speed of 20.97 Mbit/second for fixed-network broadband internet, Senegal ranked 120th in an international comparison. The upload rate of only 8.7 Mbit/second was significantly lower (126th place).
In mobile internet, i.e. on tablets and smartphones, Senegal comes 111st with a download speed of 16.10 Mbit/second. The upload speed of around 10 Mbit was enough for 63rd place.
