UDA no longer in the by-election for juja

  • The UDA party has pulled out of the by-election of juja.
  • The party’s secretary general announced this decition without voting any reasons.
  • The juja paliamentary seat was left vacant after the death of the then juja mp Francis Wanyua Waiting.

The UDA party has declared that it shall not pose a candidate in the upcoming juja by election scheduled to happen on 18th of may 2018. The secretary general of the party the has been linked to deputy president william Ruto announced this without giving reasons for the decitions.

“We would have really wished to but we have consulted widely including aspirants who had expressed interest in our party ticket and we resolved that we should not get involved but rather wait until 2022,” She said on 15th this march.

Since then, there have been views and observations with some claiming that the move was planned to avoid a possible clash between the head of state and the second in command. Still, others view it as a strategy to let the jubilee party get defeated by an affiliate contestant from a party linked to Moses Kuria who has of late shifted camp to the second in command.

The contested seat remained vacant following the death of the then Juja Mp Francis waititu which happened in 22nd of February 2021.
